The Miami Hurricanes’ first bye week of the season came at perhaps the best time. Miami started the season with six consecutive wins — first four blowouts in nonconference play followed by two come-from-behind victories to open Atlantic Coast Conference play — before they had a chance to take a breather.

The Miami Hurricanes had their first bye week of the season last week, and UM did not move Associated Press top 25 poll while not playing. Miami checked in at No. 6 in the latest edition of the AP poll on Sunday, staying steady with its spot from last week.

The Hurricanes were off this past week, so they did not have the opportunity to move up in this week’s AP poll. Miami stayed at No. 6 in this week’s poll even though one team ahead of it lost this week. Former No. 2 Ohio State lost to No. 3 Oregon, but the Ducks won a game came down to the wire, so the Buckeyes did not drop far in the poll.

With Miami on a bye, The ACC still has some of the tip teams in the league playing some great football to continue their season.

The Miami Hurricanes are off this week, resting and recuperating from the first half of the season. Miami is 6-0 and ranked sixth in the nation after a stellar first half. UM’s schedule looks manageable for the second half, and the Hurricanes could take advantage of it and make the ACC title game and the College Football Playoff.
