The New York Islanders have named Mathieu Darche as their new general manager, taking over for Lou Lamoriello.
At the start of the process, it was made clear that coach Patrick Roy, as well as the rest of the club’s hockey operations staff, would need to interview for their jobs with the new GM once one was hired. So the stage is set for Mathieu Darche’s first big decision after the 48-year-old was given the job Friday .
Darche and his wife Stephanie have two kids, Samuel and Benjamin, who both play hockey. Benjamin is coming off a 30-point campaign with the Longueuil Collège Français junior "A" team competing in the Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL).
