Michigan State coach Jonathan Smith will get his first true taste of the rivarly that is Michigan State-Michigan on Saturday. The Spartans come off a much-needed bounce-back victory over Iowa, while the Wolverines will enter the matchup coming off their second straight loss.

Former Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara, in his first appearance at Spartan Stadium since he threw the fateful interception that sealed the Wolverines’ 2021 epic loss to MSU, struggled to sustain Iowa’s offense. Aside from a brief second-half flurry, he wasn’t much of a factor, completing just 47.8% of his attempts for 150 yards.

Coach Smith also touched on the number of night games the Spartans have had on their schedule and hinted at a special uniform combination to be worn at The Big House.
