Nassau County buildings not lowering flags to half-staff in memory of former President Jimmy Carter
In Suffolk, flags would be flown Jan. 9 at half-staff, according to Mike Martino, the spokesman for Romaine, Blakeman’s counterpart in Nassau. Asked to explain why it's just one day, Martino said that’s the Biden-designated National Day of Mourning. Martino did not provide the county’s policy on flag lowering, nor say whether there is one.
