Every school district in north Georgia and metro Atlanta has canceled classes or moved to virtual learning on Friday ahead of a winter storm that will move through the area.Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says a winter storm warning is now in effect for nearly all of north Georgia until Saturday morning.

Another blast of winter storms is closing schools, snarling flights and putting millions of residents on alert across parts of the Deep South and south-central U.S. The storm started dumping a mix of sleet and heavy snow Thursday morning in north Texas and Oklahoma,

With the possibility of frozen precipitation in southwest Arkansas, area schools and government offices may announce closures as a measure of caution and to limit the amount of traffic on potentially icy roadways.
