Aside from mostly sunny skies and calm conditions that New Englanders can expect today, the only difference today from yesterday is that the core of the high pressure system will slide south and east of New England — setting up a southerly flow to help boost the mercury a few degrees for this afternoon.

Highs will jump into the upper-30s to near 40 degrees this afternoon.

A pattern change this weekend will bring an unsettled stretch with more clouds and rain, but warmer temperatures.
