ROBBINS, Ill. (CBS) -- A vehicle was struck by a Metra train in south suburban Robbins Monday afternoon, right before the start of the afternoon rush. Metra reported Rock Island District Line train 419, scheduled to arrive in Joliet at 4:02 p.m., hit a vehicle in Robbins.

"Extensive" delays along Metra's Rock Island District line were likely after a vehicle was struck by a train on Monday afternoon near south suburban Robbins, the transit agency said.

NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. - A man was fatally struck by a Metra UP-N train Thursday morning in North Chicago. The pedestrian was struck around 8:30 a.m. near the North Chicago stop in the suburbs, according to Metra officials. The incident prompted extensive delays and both inbound and outbound trains on the UP-N line were halted as police investigated.
