We had a most delightful tea at the Abkhazi Garden! The setting is absolutely stellar! Our tea, which we used as lunch, was reserved in the garden and we had a lovely table on the patio surrounded …Full review by Gundi B

I would recommend their Royal High Tea over the Afternoon Tea. Admittedly we have only tried the former, but if I look at the difference in the courses for the two offerings on their web page it seems to me that the simpler version lacks precisely those touches of refinement (such as the smoked salmon blinis with crème fraîche) that made the High Tea experience so enjoyable. Even at $50 the High Tea is par for Victoria standards; the Afternoon Tea is ten dollars cheaper but life is too short.

My wife and I went on the same cruise that gets into Vancouver at 6 and leaves like around 10 o'clock. By the time you get off of the ship go somewhere and then get back, you really don't have time to get your money's worth on any of the excursions. If I had to do it over again, I would either stay on the ship or I would get of the ship and have a taxi take me downtown to goof around for a few hours. There is just not enough time to do much else. The cruise ship stops there because US law requires they do so.

We did not reserve. We just walked in off the street, and we were served with no problem. The date, however, was early in the year, and relatively few people were visiting the garden. So demand may have been low. I don't recall the hours the teahouse is open. Internet sources can probably provide that information.
Q:
Are the main paths and the tea house wheelchair accessible?
A:
No it is not accessible for wheelchairs. You may want to try Butchart Gardens instead which is fully accessible.

Are you coming in at the cruise ship terminal? Cruise ships dock at the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal, Its is in the southwest corner of the downtown core. Abkhazi Garden is a longer walk along the shoreline sidewalk (beautiful walk in nice weather.), I am guessing an hour walk one way. Taxi ride for 10 might cost $20 per cab. To see the entire gardens can be done in an hour. How long are you staying in Victoria and how long do you want to be in the garden. The drive for for is not far and with my SUV I can do the trip in 2 rounds. (depends what time your boat arrives, the weather and where else you want to go. Abkhazi Gardens, 1964 Fairfield Road, +1 250 598-8096‎, Prince and Princess Abkhazi along with designer John Wade came together and created a garden that took over 40 years to come together on a beautiful property overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains.
